Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has warned that the new code of conduct being put together for the team by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may end up being counter productive if not handled with absolute care.
Oliseh who bared his mind on the matter in Abuja before yesterday’s World Cup qualifier against Swaziland said the NFF must realize that the players are big boys that can no longer be pushed around like kids.
“My take is that if the soccer federation fails to handle the proposed Code of Conduct for the Eagles players with the absolute carefulness it requires, it might result into more problems in the team. The code of conduct is an internal affair but the NFF must understand that the players are not kids. They are men with kids and families. That is why I laugh when people talk about my being rigid because I cannot tell Musa to retire to bed by 9pm because he will ask me if I am the one giving him such instruction in Moscow where he plays. The NFF must respect the players because they are stars, the federation must give it to the players.”
The Eagles gaffer who declined comments on the salary arrears the federation is owing him also spoke on the recent retirement of Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Emenike amongst other issues.
