Former Enugu Rangers goalkeeper Emmanuel Okala has hailed the move to establish a Hall of Fame for former players of the club.
Okala, who spoke at the event organised by Ex-Rangers Association in Enugu on Thursday, said the project would encourage the current Rangers players.
“Let us appreciate the past heroes of the club because everything is not about money. This gesture will encourage the youths to play for Rangers,” the former Super Eagles keeper said.
The General Patron of Ex-Rangers Association, Mr Benson Ejindu, said the association was determined to improve upon the life of its members through the project.
Ejindu said the proposed Hall of Fame was aimed at raising money for members who were financially incapacitated.
He said, “Most of these players cannot afford money for medical check-up as they did not make money during their playing days.The zeal to help the members to stand on their own brought about the idea of Hall of Fame.”
Coordinator of the project in Enugu, Victor Ejike, expressed his displeasure at the condition of some of the ex-Rangers players.
Ejike said the ex-Rangers complex would include a Hall of Fame, shopping plaza, venues for indoor and outdoor activities and event centres.
