As announced in a Tweet on the club's Twitter account, West Ham have officially acquired goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Areola arrives at the club on a one-year loan deal, with an option to buy at the end of this season. West Ham were insistently rumored to be on the goalkeeper's trail a few weeks back, and now they have their man. He's now sure to battle for the number one spot with Poland international Lukas Fabianski. The French goalkeeper is already familiar with Premier League football, having spent last season on loan at Fulham. In fact, since 2013, Areola has spent every season on loan away from PSG, and this year could not have been different, especially with the arrival in Paris of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
We'll see how he fares in his new adventure, and whether the Irons will decide to make the move permanent, ending Areola's loan nightmare.
