In a statement that appeared on the club's Twitter account, Augsburg announced they have signed Arne Maier.
The 23-year old just represented Germany at the Olympic games, positively impressing many. It was Augsburg in the end who wanted the midfielder more, as they signed him to a one-year loan deal with an option to buy from Herta Berlin. He will wear the number 10 shirt, something that speaks to his qualities and talent. Last season he played on loan at Arminia Bielefeld, appearing 16 times for the club. He's also represented Germany in all youth national teams, and it is only a matter of time before we see him make his debut with the national team that is in dire need of midfield talent.
In the same deal, Marco Richter will go to Herta Berlin from Augsburg.
