In a tweet that appeared on the club's official Twitter account, Empoli confirmed they have acquired Ardian Ismajli from Spezia.
A few minutes after it was revealed that Dimitrius Nikolau and Samuel Mraz would be joining Spezia from Empoli, it is now Ismajli that goes in the other direction, joining the Tuscan club. The Kosovo-born defender but with Albanian citizenship arrived in Serie A from Croatian club Hadjuk Split, where he made 80 appearances. He's also made his debut for the Albanian national team, and has played 18 times for them, scoring 1 goal in the process. Ismajli now hopes to do the same for Empoli as he did for Spezia: help the azzurri avoid relegation in their first year back in Serie A after two seasons in Serie B since their last stint in the Italian top division.
