The 2021 champions won courtesy of first half goals from Florence Alexander and an own goal from Valentina Uroko at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

Alexander opened score with a well taken goal on 11 minute before Uroko turned the ball into her own net to gift the Jewel of Rivers the second on 28 minute.

Emem Essien dribbled her marker before beating keeper Ademola Morufa to pull one back for Edo four minutes later.

In the second half, Deborah Odiagbe had thought she has found the back of the net to level for Edo but ruled out for offside on 59 minute.

Sefiat Idris almost extended the Jewel of Rivers lead as her brilliant effort agonisingly came off the upright 8 minutes later.

The score remained the way it was in the first half despite efforts by the sides to change the score as the Jewel of Rivers edged the South-South derby.
