NWFL Nationwide: Fortress Ladies continue winning run

Fortress Ladies are keeping their winning streak at the Nigeria Women Football League Nationwide after recording their third consecutive win on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Benin Ladies piped Unification FC by a goal to nil to remain top of the group B standings of the league at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

It was Nduka Gift's 19 minutes goal that made the difference at the end of the day as Unification FC of Lagos lost a second consecutive match.

In other group B match, Chosen Generation returned to winning ways, handing Kaduna Queens a consecutive defeat after a 5-2 win.

The Ogun State side rallied back to win after Busayo Akinfolaju scored twice in the 17th and 21st minute of the game to give the Queens the lead.

Favour Lazarus in the 35th minute, a brace by Victoria Collins in 40th and 65th minute, Odunayo Adekambi's 80th minute strike and the sealer by Oreoluwa Alabi at 90+2 minutes completed a wonderful comeback.

In group B, First Mahi Babes maintained their grip on the top spot in the group with a slim win over Wazbak Int'l at the School of Health Stadium, Benin.

Wali Ruth opened score in the 8th minute with a brilliant header before Joseph Ijeoma doubled the lead with a fine finish in the 25th minute

Olanipekun Olanike started a comeback for the Lagos side with a tap in to reduce the deficit in the 50th minute as Adebayo Damilola sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot in the 61st minute to make it 2-2.

The joy was cut short by substitute Akaji Favour who scored three minutes later to change the scoreline to 3-2 which remained the same till the end.

In the other match of the group, the Lagos Derby between Papa Soccer Academy and Heroes Queens ended one-all as Bello Esubiodun's 23 minute goal was cancelled by Chinaza Okeke in the 40th minute to earn a point for Papa Soccer Academy.
