Stanley Nwabali has expressed confidence in securing a new club soon, insisting he remains unbothered by his current free agent status, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The goalkeeper became a free agent after terminating his contract with Chippa United F.C. last month and is currently exploring new opportunities. His situation has raised concerns over his place in the Nigerian national football team, but the 29-year-old is optimistic about a quick return to action.
“I’m not worried, yeah. I’m not worried… I don’t really have a particular place or country I want to play for. Anywhere that welcomes me well, I can play,” Nwabali told Soccerladuma.
The shot-stopper has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs F.C., while clubs in Libya have also reportedly shown interest in his services. However, Nwabali played down the speculation, describing the reports as mere rumours.
“It’s rumours everywhere. Anyone talking about any club, rumour… It’s not a bad idea when people mention you, but rumours are always rumours,” he said.
“Seeing when someone is relevant, and they know your quality, it’s not a bad thought. But when you see me signing for any club, then you will know from the day I’m going, or probably the day I’m wearing the club’s shirt.”
Nwabali remains hopeful of returning to the pitch soon as he continues his search for a new club ahead of upcoming international assignments.
