NPFL'23: Our group is tough, but we are prepared - Kwara United Coach

Coach Azeez Mohammed Audu of Kwara United as reacted to the draw of the 2023 Nigeria Professional Football League season billed to start this January.

It will be recalled that Kwara United were placed in group A alongside Enyimba, Plateau United, Remo Stars, Nasarawa United, Gombe United, El Kanemi Warriors, Akwa United, Bendel Insurance, and Shooting Stars.

Audu stated that his side have been placed in a difficult group, but they are ready to compete with the big teams in an interview with www.owosports.com.ng.

“The group is very though but we have nothing to do than to buckle up and be ready”, Coach Azeez said.

“If you want to be a champion you have to face and beat anybody that comes your way and I think with the mentality from the boys they are ready to fight to get the needed results.

The former Katsina United manager disclosed that the team was prepared with warm games played and are working on how to get the players to play together.

“We are prepared, we’ve played some friendly matches the only thing we are working on now is how to get the player to play together and we are doing that we are ready for the season the only disadvantage we have now is that we are not going to play our home matches in Kwara which also affect some other clubs also.

He further spoke on his team not playing at their home turf, Kwara United after it failed to meet the IMC requirement. He stated that it will affect, but will adjust.

“Every club would love to play Infront of their fans, even Barcelona will always want to play at the Camp Nou. The support from the fans is always a plus to every team but we just have to adjust and face the reality. He concluded

The Afonja Warriors play their first match on the 8th of January, 2023 against Gombe United at the adopted Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State.
