NPFL'23: Enyimba, Remo, Sunshine pick Super Six ticket as Akwa, Doma Utd miss out

Published on: 21 May 2023

A goalless draw with Shooting Stars was enough to see Enyimba through to the Super Six on the final day, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The People's Elephant (Enyimba) going into the match day needed a result short of defeat while hoping Akwa United did not win by a large margin and it happened same way.

They finished level on points (32) with 4th place Akwa United but their superior goal difference secured a place for them in Lagos.

Elsewhere, newly promoted Doma United were so close yet failed to pick a Super Six ticket as they fell to a 2-0 loss to Abia Warriors who on their own needed to score above 7 goals to qualify. The result meant both team failed to pick up the ticket, leaving room for Sunshine Stars who defeated Dakkada FC 3-0 to qualify.

Meanwhile, Wikki Tourist 2-0 win in Plateau against Lobi Stars was not enough to save them from beating the drop as their rival Bayelsa United got the much needed win at home against Niger Tornadoes.

The 2-0 win for Bayelsa United was enough to help them preserve their NPFL status for next season.
