The People's Elephant had to score a late gasp goal to steal a point in the match played at the Enyimba International Stadium.

Phillip Odubia had put the visitors in front before the host scored at the dead of the game as the two teams share the points at regulation time.

How it happened

Enyimba started the better side and could have gone up earlier in the tie after dominating proceedings.

The home team had the opportunity of opening score when Emeka Obioma's penalty kick was saved by Kayode Bankole in the 18th minute.

Frank Mawuena got a chance to put the Sky Blue Stars in front but his header went wide in the 25th minute.

Enyimba came close to scoring again two minutes later, but Bankole was alert to save and keep the score goalless.

Phillip Odubia would later score after heading home a very good cross from Sodiq Ismail two minutes to the end of the first 45 minutes to give Remo Stars an half time lead.

In the second half, the hosts pushed to get themselves back into the game but Kayode Bankole and the backline remained focused to avert any danger.

Imoh Obot came close to leveling things in the 68 minute but Kayode Bankole came to the rescue yet again.

Enyimba kept pushing for that equalizer even as Alalibo Somiari's freekick in the 86th minute was punched out to safety by Bankole.

With the time ticking fast and three points looking certain for the Ikenne side, the Aba giants levelled at additional time.

Enyimba stay second with six points adrift of league group A leaders, Bendel Insurance pending the match Akwa United who are third with 23 points.
