Published on: 08 June 2023

Finidi George, the head coach of Enyimba FC was unsatisfied with the referee’s performance in the matchday 3 battle of the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six Playoff against Bendel Insurance, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The People’s Elephant was held to a 1-1 draw after Divine Nwachukwu canceled out Sadiq Abubakar's goal in the in the 36th minute.

Despite all of Enyimba’s effort to get the winner, Finidi believed the referee’s cheap calls obstructed the free flow of the game and their attempts to carry the day.

"Too many things happening in football, which I cannot spell out here. I thought we were bigger than this. And a live match shouldn't be this way.

"I didn't expect to protest for every decision, the game is supposed to be topnotch, but we will keep moving."

After the game on Wednesday, the Aba giants maintain top spot with 5 points, closely followed by the defending champions, Rivers United on similar points but with an inferior goal difference.
