NPFL: Sunshine Stars get the better of Plateau United as Kano Pillars, Heartland secure away points

Sunshine Stars put up a fine display to beat Plateau United in their Nigeria Premier Football League match day 24 fixture while Kano Pillars and Heartland FC recorded away wins against Rivers United and Katsina United on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Early minutes threat, Yusuf Ibrahim opened the score for the Akure Gunners from a rebound after Promise Awosanmi’s shot was too hot to handle for goalkeeper, Suraj Ayeleso on 26 minutes.

Sodiq Ibrahim doubled the lead on 35 minutes, but Albert Hilary pulled one back for United on 58 minutes.

Ibrahim restored the hosts 2-goal lead 4 minutes to the end of the encouounter with second of the day after Vincent Temitope's assist to give Sunshine Stars a comfortable win.

In Porthacourt, Rivers United came back from a goal down to play a 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars at the Amiesimaka Stadium after Sunday Williams' controversial goal on 65 minute cancelled Abba Musa's 23 minute goal.

Nafiu Ibrahim scored late to save Katsina United blushes after Barnabas Ingya had put Heartland FC the lead on 57 minute of the game at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
