Several past and present NPFL stars were in attendance when Chinedu Udoji was finally laid to rest Wednesday in his hometown Igbariam of Anambra State.

Abdul Rasak Aliu, Ugwu Uwadiagu, Christian Madu, Mfon Udoh, who is current all-time NPFL top scorer, Chima Amafor, Emmanuel Anyanwu and coach Friday Christopher were at the burial of the former Kano Pillars stalwart.

Udoji would always fondly be remembered by Sai Ma Sugida fans for his commitment which was once again evident in his final match for the club against former club Enyimba as he went home with the Man of the Match award.

As part of the recognition for his diligence and dedication towards the success of Kano Pillars, the government of Kano State gave his family three million Naira so cushion the burden on the family as they prepared for the burial.

El-Kanemi midfielder and late Udoji’s best man at his wedding, Abdulrasak Aliu wept profusely at the burial.

Aliu and the late Udoji, who died last month in a car crash in Kano, were friends who grew up together in Kaduna before becoming teammates at Enyimba.

Aliu said: “I and most people gathered here cried again. It was as if he only passed away today. Udoji cannot be replaced in my heart as I still have his contact on my phone as if we are still talking. I miss him.”
