NPFL: Rest of Match Day 1 fixtures postponed after IMC and Club Owners reach compromise

Following a last minute resolution to the disagreement between the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Interim Management Committee, IMC and the Club Owners, majority of the fixtures for match day one has been shifted by a week.

The match day one fixtures which were billed to start on the Sunday the 8th of January, 2023 has been moved to the 15th of January, 2023.

However, the star match of the match day, a fixture between Akwa Utd vs Bendel Insurance in Uyo will still hold as stipulated on the 8th of January.

Fourteen out of the twenty NPFL clubs had been reported to be against the abridged version of the league proposed by the IMC and had threatened to boycott the commencement of the league after the IMC insisted to go ahead with the plan of an abridged league season.

Issues between the two parties looked resolved and all teams are ready to be involved the league when it fully commences next week.
