The matchday 12 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday evening involving Remo Stars and Gombe United was abandoned, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Only 45 minutes of action was played between Remo Stars and Gombe United in Ikenne before the game was abandoned by the match officials.
The game was reportedly abandoned as a result of intimidation from the home fans who challenged the referee’s call on Dayo Ojo’s tackle which led to a red card in the 44th minute.
According to several sources, the assault continued in the dressing room after halftime and match officials then took the decision not to come out for second half.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) will be expected to review the report from the game and take a decision on the abandoned match soon.
