Rivers United ended Enyimba FC's 'fine start to the season while maintaining theirs after beating the former champions in Port Harcourt on Sunday evening in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day four encounter, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Goals by Ubong Friday and Seiyefa Jackson in each half earned the Pride of Rivers maximum points at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

Friday opened score for the hosts after seventeen minutes of action as he hit the ball from close range to score the goal that was enough to give Coach George Finidi's side the lead at half time.

In the 45 minute, the People's Elephant came out stronger seeking to restore parity, but the Pride of Rivers remained resolute to keep their lead.

A corner for the visitors nine minutes to the end saw a poor delivery by Fathia Abdullahi saw the ball fall to Rivers who hit Enyimba on the counter as David Benjamin found Jackson who buried the ball at the back of the net.

The goal sealed the win for Rivers United who have now won three matches and drawn one while Enyimba after three matches, have two wins and a loss.

Enyimba FC will now shift focus to Wednesday when they play Abia Warriors in a rescheduled NPFL match day three encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium.
