NPFL: Ikorodu City get 3M fine, to play matches behind close doors

The Nigeria Premier Football League hammer has fallen on Ikorodu City following their breach of the league's framework, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The Lagos-based club was fined following failure to provide adequate security, fan encroachment, and assault on Remo Stars coach, Sulaimon Kamil, breaching Rule B13.18 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League in the process.

The incident happened in the NPFL match day 17 encounter against Remo Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Sunday.

The club has now been told they will play two games behind closed doors and have been fined the sum of 3 million naira.

The club has also been ordered to identify and prosecute the individual involved.

Consequently, Ikorodu City will be without their fans for the games against Sunshine Stars on Monday, 29th December and Kano Pillars on 25th January.
