In the first game of the second stanza for both clubs, Sunshine Stars, got ahead in the 28th minute through Promise Awosanmi, who benefitted from a superb team work. The host held on to the lead going into the break despite failing to covert series of chances which could've put them 2 to 3 goals up after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half with the game still 1-0 in favour of the host, Kwara United made three changes which eventually turned the game around and helped them secure a vital away point. Anthony Omaka, Dehinde Ibrahim and eventual goal scorer for them, Abubakar Garba replaced Shola Abdulraheem, Godwin Oshagbemi and Issa Gata respectively.

United level up in the 74th minutes and then thought they had won it minutes later when another substitute Wasiu Alalade scored but his goal was ruled out for offside.

The Chief Coach of Kwara United, Coach Tunde Sanni expresses his delight with the draw, although is wasn't the result his team bargained for, pointing out the slow start as the major reason they didn't pick the maximum points. He however commended the players for forcing Sunshine Stars to one-all draw.

"We started the game slowly, and allowed the home team to take the initiative, but we played our game in the second half, especially after the changes we made.
