NPFL: Abia Warriors hand Rivers United 2nd consecutive defeats

Abia Warriors stole the show in the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 29 rescheduled game after handing Rivers United a second consecutive defeat on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Ochendo Boys beat the Pride of Rivers 2-0 courtesy of goals from Samson Obi and Meme Okike at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Obi opened broke the deadlock after 63 minutes without a goal to set the host on the path to the victory.

Okike sealed the win at the dead of the game to win and elevate the Abia State side to 10th on the log with 44 points while Rivers United drop to 12th place on the NPFL log with 41 points from 31 matches.

Rivers continue their retinue of rescheduled matches with an home match against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, May 19.

They travel to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City two days later for a President Federation Cup round 32 clash vs Niger Tornadoes on Wed, May 22.
