Nigerian Striker Akinfenwa Nominated For PFA Player of The Year Award

Akinfenwa of Wycombe Wanderers has been nominated for the  English League Two (Fourth division) Professional Football Association (PFA) Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Year Award.

The PFA made the announcement on their official website on Friday.

Akinfenwa, 36, popularly known as “The Beast”, who never featured for Nigeria or England at any international level, was nominated along with five other players.

He made 46 appearances in all competitions for Wycombe this season, scoring 18 goals with 14 assists.

His impressive showing for Wycombe led to their promotion to League One (English third division).

Commenting on Akinfenwa’s performance, the PFA wrote on their website: “The powerhouse of English football continued to deliver in 2017/18.

“Wycombe are on their way up to League One and their dominant forward has been key to that. 17 goals and 12 assists in the league is a very good return to say the least.”

Voting for the League Two PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Year will end on May 25, 2018 at 8:am.
