NFF disciplinary committee restores Nasarawa United, Bendel Insurance 3 points, 3 goals
The NFF Disciplinary Committee has set aside the decision to deduct 3 points each from Bendel Insurance and Nasarawa United in their matches against Kano Pillars FC and Rivers United FC respectively, Nigeriasoccernet.com report
The committee reviewed protests from Bendel Insurance FC, Plateau United FC, and Nasarawa United FC against NPFL rulings, overturning the points deductions while upholding other fines.
Bendel Insurance FC was found to have failed to provide adequate security, but no evidence of grievous assault on match officials.
In the Nasarawa United and Rivers United games, no conclusive evidence of referee assault was found. Hence, the Match Commissioner was deemed incompetent.
However, since the video evidence confirmed fan misconduct (throwing objects onto the field), a 3-point, 3-goal deduction was overturned, and the Match Commissioner was demoted to the Nigeria National League NNL.
Meanwhile, the committee upheld NPFL’s findings and decisions in full for the match of Plateau United FC vs. Rangers International FC (10th November 2024, New Jos City Stadium, Jos).
