New Inter Owners Pledge Major Transfer Funds

"?The new owners of Inter Milan have promised significant investment in the playing squad this summer, "?according to ESPN.

Chinese retail organisation Suning Holdings Group finalised a deal earlier this week that saw them acquire a 68.55% share of the San Siro based club, and incoming vice-president Weimen Sun promised fans that they would make funds available.

Speaking to the club's TV channel, he explained that he was looking forward to help return the team to the top of Italian football, saying, "We will certainly invest in Inter, we will help the club and provide as many resources as possible to bring them back to the top or to a level even higher than before".

Inter won the last of their 18 Serie A titles in 2010 as part of an unprecedented treble under former manager Jose Mourinho, but since then have only won the FIFA Club World Cup and the Coppa Italia - both coming in the following season. Last season, the Nerazzurri finished 24 points behind champions Juventus.

Sun continued, "The situation will get more and more interesting and rosy. It is a challenge but we're confident we can do it, thanks to constant investments, the support of Inter's Chinese fans and the club's own managerial skills".

Manager Roberto Mancini spoke of his delight at the additional funds, telling Radio Deejay "?in an interview that he previously believed the club "would only be able to get free transfers".

He went on to add that he didn't know anything about the takeover, insisting that former majority shareholder Erik Thohir only informed him very recently.

The former Manchester City coach said, "I talked with Thohir a few days ago, and he explained the situation, but like everybody else, before that I knew absolutely nothing. I am just the manager, so he had no reason to call me to say 'I am doing this or that'".

Speaking of his own position following the takeover, Mancini added "I genuinely don't know much about it and will talk when the situation is clearer. As for my own future, people have been asking for months, but I'm definitely staying".
