For this month's three World Cup qualifiers, France replaced injured midfielders N'Golo Kante and Corentin Tolisso with Matteo Guendouzi and Adrien Rabiot on Wednesday.

Chelsea's N'Golo Kante has not "completely healed" from a left ankle injury, while Bayern Munich's Tolisso has "a muscle ailment in the left calf," according to the French Football Federation.

Didier Deschamps did not call up Rabiot, who has 19 caps, at first because he was not in the Juventus squad for the start of the Serie A season and Deschamps called up Guendouzi twice in 2019, but he did not make the squad.

Guendouzi and Rabiot will not play on Wednesday and will join the squad in Strasbourg on Thursday morning.

Midfield possibilities for Deschamps include Paul Pogba and Thomas Lemar, as well as uncapped recruits Jordan Veretout and Aurelien Tchouameni.
