Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bamaiyi Ananbga, on Saturday refuted allegations that he squandered N42m meant to finance activities of the two state-owned football clubs, Nasarawa United and Amazons.

Ananbga, who debunked the allegation in a telephone interview in Lafia, added that monies approved recently by the state government for execution of some matches of the two clubs in state had not been released.

He said the ministry under his watch was committed to executing government policies and programmes in line with due process, transparency, prudence and accountability.

The commissioner said the ministry has taken measures to correct mistakes of the past in order to achieve meaningful results in the state.

Ananbga advised sports interest groups and stakeholders to be sure of what they say to avoid misleading members of the public.

On his part, Chairman of Nasarawa United, Isaac Danladi, said the management of the club had no reason to complain as the state government had not failed to support the club.
