Napoli set to land Villarreal star in €30 million move

Published on: 22 January 2019

Pablo Fornals could be a Napoli player in the coming days with reports indicating the Italian side are prepared to pay his €30 million release clause.

The Spaniard joined Villarreal from Malaga for €12m in the summer of 2017, and his form for the Yellow Submarine has seen him earn two senior caps for the Spanish national team.

His play has caught the attention of Napoli, as Mundo Deportivo reports Napoli are in talks to land Fornals for €30m.

It’s believed Partenopei director Cristiano Giuntoli is in talks to try and lower that price, though negotiations are at such an advanced stage that a deal is expected to go through regardless.

The move for Fornals comes amidst reports Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis met with PSG directors in Paris regarding a move for midfielder Allan.

While it’s unclear whether talks will focus on a January or summer move, the belief is that Fornals signing would act as cover should the Brazilian be sold.

Fornals signing would also increase the Spanish contingent in Naples, as he would link up with compatriots Raul Albiol, Jose Callejon and Fabian Ruiz.
