The Warriors will face the Super Eagles in the first semi-final of the 2026 Unity Cup on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to the final against either India national football team or Jamaica national football team.

Both countries recently met during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with the two encounters ending in draws.

Zimbabwe held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in Kigali before grabbing another late equaliser in the reverse fixture in Uyo.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Nakamba revealed that the mood in camp remains positive as the players continue preparations for the game.

“We’ve been preparing well for the match tomorrow against Nigeria,” Nakamba said in a short interview published on the Zimbabwe Football Association’s X account.

“I think everyone is pushing each other in training, the morale is high, so we are looking forward to the game, and hopefully all Zimbabweans will come out in their numbers to support us.”

The former Aston Villa F.C. midfielder also highlighted the role senior players are playing in helping younger members of the squad settle into the national team environment.

“We are trying to help the young ones focus, especially the new players coming in for the first time,” he added.

“We are encouraging them to stay concentrated, take their chances, and embrace the opportunity to represent the country.”

The last three meetings between Nigeria and Zimbabwe have all ended in draws.

Nigeria’s last victory over the Warriors came during the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations group stage, when goals from Christian Obodo and John Obi Mikel secured a 2-0 win.

Zimbabwe’s only recorded victory over Nigeria came in a friendly match in 1982, which the Warriors won 2-0.
