Jose Mourinho says Real Madrid should be stronger in three months, but warned that building the team he wants will take longer.
The Real Madrid manager was speaking at his Monday news conference after being asked about his previous comments that he needed three months to see the side he wanted.
“If I ask for three months, then others ask for 10 years,” Mourinho said. “Perhaps I expressed myself incorrectly or did not communicate the idea properly.
“What I mean is that in three months we should be better than we are today. I do not have anything magical that allows me to say we will be at an incredible level in three months.
“I do not have superpowers. I can only work towards progress - in every training session and in every match.”
Mourinho added that the team’s development would be assessed continuously, with the coaching staff reviewing its performances after each match.
“After the match, we analyse it,” he said. “The longer a team works with its coach, the more opportunities it has to become stronger.”
Real Madrid have taken 12 points from their first five La Liga matches.
