Moses, Abraham Subbed Off As Chelsea Edge Lyon On Penalties

Chelsea’s Nigerian winger Victor Moses was in action for the Blues who defeated Olympique Lyon 5-4 on penalties after full time scores goalless in their final International Champion Cup (ICC)pre-season friendly.

Eden Hazard scored the decisive spot kick after Rob Green had saved Pape Cheikh Diop’s kick.

The 27 year old Moses who was making his first start (fourth appearance) for Chelsea in pre-season played for 68 minutes and was unimpressive in the encounter before he was replaced by Lucas Piazon.

Chelsea boss handed some fringe players,Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ethan Ampadu starting roles in the encounter.

Abraham and Loftus-Cheek had decent chances in the fifth and eight minute to break the deadlock but they both missed their opportunities.

Lyon also had few attempts on goal through Memphis Depay and Betrand Traore.

The second string players that started the game for Chelsea obviously didn’t impress Maurizio Sarri and he ringed changes hauling off the entire team for new set but that didn’t change the scoreline as the game went into shootouts.

Jorginho, Ross Barkley, Marcos Alonso, Cesar Azpilicueta and Eden Hazard all scored for Chelsea while Diop was the only Olympique Lyon player who missed his kick.

The Blues wrapped up their pre-season recording two wins two draws and a defeat.

The will face Huddersfield Town away in their opening league game on Saturday
