AS Monaco have begun discussions with Paris Brunner’s representatives over a contract extension, according to L’Equipe, after the German-Congolese forward made a strong impression since the start of the season.
The 20-year-old has quickly settled at the club since joining from Borussia Dortmund and has satisfied Monaco’s management with his performances. Although Brunner is already under contract until June 2028, the French club is keen to secure his future and strengthen its position ahead of potential interest in the upcoming transfer windows.
Brunner’s recent displays have increased his importance within Monaco’s plans. The club is therefore seeking to act early rather than wait for approaches from elsewhere, with negotiations now under way with the player’s entourage.
The agreement which took Brunner from Borussia Dortmund to Monaco included a specific clause concerning any future offer for the forward. If another club makes a proposal, Monaco must inform Borussia Dortmund.
The German club would then have the option to match that offer. However, the provision does not give Borussia Dortmund a right of first refusal.
Brunner’s age and performances mean he is attracting attention in the transfer market. His current value is estimated at 15 million euros by Transfermarkt, and Monaco’s decision to discuss a new contract reflects its intention to consolidate its position around the Germany international of Congolese origin.
The club will next face Toulouse in the sixth matchday of the French championship.
