Matt Lampson, the goalie for the Columbus Crew, was released on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old was a member of Columbus' MLS Cup-winning team last season but has been forced to play second fiddle to Eloy Room. Lampson last played in an MLS match for Minnesota United FC during the 2019 season.
“We want to thank Matt for his contributions to the club and the greater Columbus community, and wish him all the best moving forward,” Crew president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a release.
