Nigeria Professional Football League team, Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) were outstanding as they defeated Bridge Boys 4-0 to win the 2016 Lagos FA Cup championship in the final played at the Agege Stadium Sunday night. Sikiru Olatunbosun’s brace in the 41st an 48th minutes, mercurial midfielder Onuwa Chukwuka’s 49th minute goal and the dying minutes goal in the second half from Nelson Tenedon were all the MFM team needed to crush their Bridge Boys opponents in the final watched by a capacity crowd at the Agege Stadium. Despite losing the final of the tournament played by 56 teams to the NPFL clubside, Bridge Boys won most of the awards on display in the men’s category of the FA Cup. The Highest Goal Scorer award of the tournament went to Bridge Boys’ Olaniyi, who scored a total of five goals throughout the competition. He was given the sum of N100,000 by the sponsor, Winners Golden Bet. Goalkeeper Aliu of the Bridge Boys also won the Best Goakeeper award of the competition and a prize of N50,000. Aliu conceded only four goals throughout the tourney to win the award. Chairman of the MFM FC, Mr. Godwin Enakhena said watchers of the steady progress of the club in the last few years, and especially since they were promoted to the Nigerian elite league would not be surprised that MFM won the Lagos FA Cup. He expressed his happiness that the FA Cup, which has not been part of the club’s laurels, has finally been added to the honours list of the club owned by the Mountain of Fire Ministries. He assured fans to expect more successes from the club as the NPFL season progresses.
