Gerardo Martino, Mexico's manager, has announced the list of 23 players that will represent the country in the new CONCACAF Nations League tournament starting on July 3rd in Denver. Chief among them is Diego Lainez's absence. The 23-year old Betis player who was thought of to be a lock for the squad, was left off by Gerardo Martino. Together with the young midfielder, Martino decided to cut Rodolfo Pizarro, Osvaldo Rodriguez, Cesar Montes, Roberto Alvarado, Sebastian Cordova and Wolverhampton striker Raul Jimenez, the latter at the request of the English club. The 23-man squad is defined as such:

Goalkeepers:Guillermo Ochoa, Rodolfo Cota, Alfredo Talavera. Defenders: Jorge Sánchez, Edson Álvarez, Néstor Araújo, Gerardo Arteaga, Luis Rodríguez, Jesús Gallardo, Héctor Moreno, Carlos Salcedo. Midfielders: Andrés Guardado, Jonathan dos Santos, Héctor Herrera, Erick Gutiérrez, Orbelín Pineda, Luis Romo. Forwards: Uriel Antuna, Jesús Corona, Carlos Rodríguez, Hirving Lozano, Henry Martín
