Martial appeared to kick out at the Huddersfield defender after he had caught him with a tackle by the touchline.

The incident was missed by referee Lee Mason, although both Martial and Smith were booked moments later after squaring up to each other following a different clash.

Sources told ESPN FC that the FA has reviewed footage of Martial's apparent kick but decided it did not warrant further investigation or referral to the disciplinary panel.

Martial was substituted at half-time with Huddersfield 2-0 up thanks to goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre.
