Marc Overmars has denied being in talks with Arsenal about a return to the club next summer.

Overmars played for Arsenal between 1997-2000 and is currently the director of football at Ajax, with speculation having mounted that the North London club are interested in bringing him back in a similar role.

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger denied last week that his former player is in line for a return and Overmars himself has also rubbished those reports.

"I feel good at Ajax. And there's no contact with other clubs," Overmars told NOS.

Marc Overmars is currently director of football at Ajax.

Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis was reportedly looking into hiring a sporting director last season, but those plans were shelved after Wenger publicly objected to the idea.

Wenger had said at a news conference last Thursday that he remains in contact with Overmars but that there were no talks about bringing him back to the club.

"No, at the moment he's a director at Ajax," he said. "We have always been in touch, yes, but at the moment [there are no talks], no."
