Atalanta are pushing for Ademola Lookman not to join the Super Eagles until after their Serie A match against Cagliari on December 13, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigerian winger was named in the 55-man preliminary squad by head coach Eric Chelle on Tuesday and is expected to make the final 28-man squad for AFCON 2025.
Lookman will join the Super Eagles' training camp in Cairo, Egypt, on December 14, a day after Atalanta's match against Cagliari.
The Super Eagles will begin their preparations for AFCON 2025 on December 10, with all players expected to report by December 11.
Lookman is expected to play a key role for Nigeria in Morocco, having scored three goals and registered one assist in seven matches at AFCON 2023, helping Nigeria finish first runner-up.
