Eze was a tower at the back for Nigeria, and almost came close to scoring early into the game. A sign of how well he combined his defensive duties with some bit of attacking to help the Nigerian team to their first win.

The award was presented to him after the game, and the defender whose move to Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv was confirmed yesterday was full of joy as he posed with the award.

Signed by Kano Pillars in November, the towering defender who represented FC Ifeanyiubah last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League leaves the club without playing a single game for them.

A veteran of the B team of Nigeria, he will be hoping that his move to Europe earns him a first call up to the main senior national team of Nigeria ahead of the World Cup in Russia later in the year.
