Victor Osimhen has also broken the record for most goals scored in a Fifa U17 World Cup final. His 10 goals have put him above Florent Sinama Pongolle and Souleymane of Cote d'Ivoire.

Nigeria have now won their fifth Fifa U17 World Cup, a record for any country. They also maintain their record of never losing to African opposition.

Mali win a corner kick and the cross is punched out by Udoh only for it to fall to the opponents who launch the ball back into the area but this time Udoh safely sweeps it up.

An interesting battle building up between Lazarus and Malle on the right wing. Lazarus is known for his surging runs forward but he has to be careful in tracking back on Malle who's already threatened the Nigerian goal.

Anumudu gets entangled with a Malian defender and gives away a foul. Nigeria regain possession via a throw in which has now been converted into a corner kick after much pressure n the Mali back line but Samuel makes a good save off the connecting touch.

Both national anthems are played in what is probably the biggest event in the lives of these young men. First Mali's and then Nigeria's, the lads belt out with passionate frenzy.

We're inching closer to the kick off and the stadium looks half full as the teams walk onto the pitch behind the Fifa flag and fair play flag. Mali are dressed in white with red, green and yellow stripes while Nigeria are in forest green with a white band from top to bottom.

Mai's strength in youth football is growing as they reached the semi finals of the U20 World Cup earlier in June. They seem to be getting something right in their football development and one can only wish them well for the future.

This would be the fourth time Nigeria would face African opposition in the history of the tournament and they have a 3-0 record of wins. Coincidentally, all matches have been against West African opposition showing the strength of football in the subregion. In the previous all-African final, Nigeria egded Ghana 2-1 in 1993, a set that had the famous Nwankwo Kanu.

It is the first-ever meeting between both teams in the U17 World Cup and they come with their impressive credentials. Nigeria are reigning champions coming in from the last tournament in 2013. Mali are African champions from the tournament in Niger in February. They avoided each other even then only to set up the second all-African final in Chile.
