Atletico Madrid made a bold play for Lionel Messi following his departure from Barcelona - according to Movistar Plus.
Diego Simeone personally spoke to the 34-year-old to try and convince him to move to Wanda Metropolitano, where he could have reunited with former Barca team-mate Luis Saurez.
Messi and his family seriously considered the offer, but the Argentine has ultimately chosen to continue his career at Paris Saint-Germain.
