Leon Bailey has left Aston Villa to join Greek club Olympiacos, with the transfer of the Jamaica international confirmed by the Piraeus side.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed to continue his career in the Greek championship after departing the Birmingham club, where he had played since 2021. Olympiacos announced the move through their official club communications.
Transfermarkt reports that Bailey has signed a three-year contract with the Greek club. The transfer fee is understood to be €5m.
Bailey joined Aston Villa in 2021 and spent the following seasons with the Premier League side. His departure brings an end to his time at the club, with Olympiacos becoming the next destination in a career that now moves from the English top flight to Greece.
The Jamaica international made 13 appearances for Aston Villa in the previous Premier League season. He registered one assist during those matches.
His move to Olympiacos gives the Piraeus club an experienced attacking option ahead of the next stage of their campaign. Bailey’s role as an attacking midfielder means he can contribute in an advanced position, while his arrival also represents a significant addition for a side competing in the Greek championship.
For Aston Villa, the transfer marks the departure of a player who had been part of their squad since 2021. Bailey’s involvement last season was limited to 13 Premier League appearances, and he leaves after recording one assist for the Birmingham team during that campaign.
Olympiacos have not publicly detailed the financial terms in the announcement cited by the report, but Transfermarkt lists the fee for the Jamaica player at €5m and the agreement as lasting three years.
The Piraeus club’s confirmation completes Bailey’s move away from the Premier League. He will now begin the next chapter of his career in Greek football after four seasons with Aston Villa.
