Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, failed to rescue his English Premier League club Leicester City who fell to a 2-0 home defeat against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Iheanacho was introduced in the 61st minute for Hamza Choudhury in what was his 19th league appearance of the season.

His international teammate, Wilfred Ndidi, as expected was not included in the match day squad as he is still recuperating from the harmstring injury he picked up in last Saturday’s 5-0 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario and captain Mark Noble got the goals for the Hammers.

At the Hawthorns, Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 to their hosts West Bromwich Albion.

Jake Livermore scored the winner two minutes into stoppage time. The result, West Brom’s third win in five games since Darren Moore took over as caretaker manager, means West Brom are still in with a chance of surviving the drop.

West Brom are 19th in the table with 31 points from 37 games, while Spurs fourth with 71 points from 36 games.

Watford also defeated Newcastle United 2-1 at Vicarage Road courtesy of two goals by Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray.

Ayoze Perez netted Newcastle United’s only goal of the game.

In the other fixture, Bournemouth edged out Swansea 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium with Ryan Fraser grabbing the winning goal eight minutes before the break.
