LaLiga stars to have big presence at the 2019 Gold Cup

Nine players from LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1|2|3 have been called-up to the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which gets underway this Saturday 15th June in North America and the Caribbean.

16 cities will host matches over a three week period, the majority of which in the United States as well as one venue a piece in Costa Rica and Jamaica.

The USA are defending champions, although Mexico have the biggest LaLiga representation with no fewer than four players called up to their squad.

Captain and second all-time record appearance maker Andres Guardado (Real Betis) is the star name, and defensive trio Diego Reyes (CD Leganes), Hector Moreno (Real Sociedad) and Nestor Araujo (RC Celta) also feature in former FC Barcelona manager Tata Martino’s list.

Elsewhere in Group A, there are places in the Martinique squad for Jean-Sylvain Babin (Real Sporting) and Samuel Camille (CD Tenerife). Both played regularly in LaLiga 1|2|3 during the 2018/19 campaign.

RCD Espanyol defender Oscar Duarte received a call-up for Costa Rica, with Honduras forward Anthony Lozano (Girona FC) and Panama midfielder Yoel Barcenas (Real Oviedo) the other LaLiga players involved.

Panama also selected 20 year-old Jose Luis Rodriguez, who is on the books with D. Alaves but is yet to make a first team appearance.
