Asante Kotoko will prematurely end their mid-season preparations in Tema and will return to Kumasi on Sunday.

The team’s return to their base is as a result of the change in tentative date for the resumption of the second half of the Premier League season.

The second round of the First Capital Plus League has now been set to commence on June 7.

This is almost three weeks more to the tentative start date of May 17.

Kotoko coach David Duncan brought his team down to Tema for some physical works in order for the players to maintain their shape with the second round start near.

He is now forced to take his team back to Kumasi with the change in dates.

Kotoko spokesman Kweku Ahenkora admits the change has disrupted the team’s training program.

“Of course [about whether the change in date has an effect on plans],” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We would have been in Tema for two weeks had it not been the change.”

Kotoko are desperate to avoid a stuttering start to the second half of the season in their bid to retain their Premier League crown.
