Former Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali has ascribed his recent top form to hard work and more focus.
The 20-year-old has been a constant figure for the Porto B team since the turn of the new year and was impressive in their 2-0 win over Penafiel at the weekend to their unbeaten run to 9 games.
The Nigerian operated mostly on the flanks in the match, showing plenty of vigour and determination before being replaced by Musa Yahaya in the 84th minute of the encounter.
Nwakali completed 87% of his passes, won a game-high 13 of 18 duels contested, completed 100% of his dribbles and also won five of his six tackles in the match to round off a perfect game last weekend.
He, however, admitted afterward that he was happy with his performance and believes his hard work is finally paying off and vows to even do more to ensure he keeps improving on and off the pitch.
Having played with the U-17 and U-20 in the past, the Arsenal loanee could be one of the players on the NFF radar ahead of next month’s AFCON U-23 qualifiers against Libya with Nigeria currently the defending champions after their triumph in Senegal four years ago.
