Kano Pillars’ 12-Goal Hero Lokosa Eyes Udoh’s NPFL Goals Record

Kano Pillars forward Junior Lokosa has set his sights on erasing Mfon Udoh’s highest goals scoring record in a single season in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Udoh, who is the current captain of seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba, set the record after scoring 23 goals for the Peoples Elephant in the 2013/2014 season.

Lokosa, who joined Kano Pillars from Bet9ja Nigeria National League outfit First Bank during the second half of the campaign last term, has bagged 12 goals in 13 NPFL games this season and is in course to shatter the record.

“It is something I have in mind and I believe it is achievable,” Lokosa told CSN from his Kano base on Monday.

“But it is important I keep working hard and not allow any form of distraction to stop me from achieving my set objective.

“It is also important to stay fit which is another key factor. I feel good at the moment and I want to keep the mood going.”

The Sai Masu Gida went down to a 2-1 defeat against Kwara United in their last league fixture with Lokosa scoring the curtain raiser early in the game.

On Wednesday, they will be up against FC IfeanyiUbah at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano and the young striker is eager to see his side return to winning ways.

“We have failed to record a win in our last two games and it is important we beat them (FC IfeanyiUbah) to boost our chances of winning the league,” Lokosa added.

“We are going to give our all in the game and hopefully we will come out victorious.”
