Jordan Veretout Seeks Summer Move Away From Relegated Aston Villa

"?Jordan Veretout has decided that his future lies away from Villa Park following Aston Villa's relegation to the Championship, according to French media outlet L'equipe.

The French midfielder is said to have set his sights on leaving the Midlands club and plans to capitalise on the attention of sides in France, Spain and the English Premier League.

This comes after a report from the "?Birmingham Mail, that the 23-year-old former Nantes player wanted showdown talks with new Villans boss Roberto Di Matteo to discuss his future at Villa Park.

However, it appears that Veretout does not wish to feature in the Italian's plans, meaning the former France Under-21s player will look to force his way out of the club just a year after signing for £8m.

Veretout joined the struggling Claret and Blues with high expectations following an approach

from now Premier League champions Leicester City - which he rejected. He clearly struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game and subsequently found himself out-of-favour during Tim Sherwood's rein.

However, when fellow Frenchman Remi Garde took over from Sherwood in November, Veretout became a regular, starting in 20 consecutive Premier League games.

But then when Garde made way towards the end of the campaign following a series of dismal results, the youngster failed to make an appearance in the final 7 games of the season led by caretaker manager Eric Black.

Over the course of the season Veretout did manage to have an effect, albeit futile, effon Villa's performance. In his 25 appearances he mustered up a team-record 5 assists but failed to find the net a single time.
