Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku, has spoken for the first time on a reported frosty relationship between him and striker Ahmed Toure by claiming such reports were cocked up.

The highly respected midfielder was accused of not passing the Ivorian hit-man due to his astronomical wages.

Kotoko struggled to win games and went seven without a win in that difficult period with coach Mas-Ud Dramani paying the ultimate price for an uninspiring start to the domestic season.

But midfield power house Jordan Opoku says those claims were carefully engineered due to the difficult period the team was enduring.

“They are part of the game and I read them and laugh because it was a difficult time for the club and people wanted to find reasons for that,” Opoku told Citi FM

“I have never had a problem with Ahmed and we all were suffering due to the state of the club.

“I feel they were made up to tell a side of an untrue story which does not help the team nor the players involved.”
