John Stones says he is embracing a new challenge at Inter after bringing his trophy-filled spell with Manchester City to an end during the summer.
The England centre-back spent the previous stage of his career at the Etihad Stadium, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League. He has now moved to Serie A, where he is aiming to establish himself at San Siro and help create a lasting legacy with Inter.
Inter currently sit second in Serie A, and Stones said the decision to leave Manchester City had been significant both professionally and personally.
Speaking to DAZN, via TuttoMercatoWeb, he said: “I felt a lot of emotions, it was an overwhelming feeling of happiness and pride.”
“I'm really grateful for this opportunity, I'm excited to be here. I'd describe myself as kind, happy and competitive. As a child I was never still, always moving, I was really active.”
Stones has also been adapting to a new dressing room and is taking time to understand his place within the squad.
“I talk a lot in the dressing room, even if right now I'm observing and trying to find my place in the group,” he said.
The defender identified passing as the strongest part of his game but acknowledged that he still has areas to improve.
“The technical aspect I do best is passing, for the rest I have to improve in everything,” Stones added.
His commitment, however, remains unchanged as he begins life in Italy.
“I always give 100 per cent, I'm competitive, I love winning and I leave everything on the pitch.”
