Liverpool midfielder João Carlos Teixeira is expected to knock back a new contract offer at Anfield this week, with the "?Liverpool Echo reporting that he is ready to move on to find first team football elsewhere.
The Portuguese play-maker found playing time under Jurgen Klopp hard to come by last season, and with Liverpool already looking elsewhere for fresh talent, Teixeira is not prepared to warm the bench any more.
Already behind Adam Lallana, Emre Can and even Joe Allen in the pecking order, there is little chance that Teixeira will be able to oust any of the players from their place.
Reports in Italy claim that an agreement is already in place with Fiorentina for Teixeira to join La Viola and it seems all the more likely now that a transfer fee would no longer be a stumbling block.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has previously spoken about his admiration for Teixeira but also admits it would be difficult to guarantee first-team football for the Portuguese star.
Klopp, speaking to the media back in January said: "I like Joao. As a person, as a footballer. But of course, players like him need matches, and if you can't get it then you have to leave."
Interesting to hear LFC have offered Joao Teixeira a new deal. Sounds as if he's unlikely to accept though. Understandable.
Slight surprise in that Joao Teixeira has been offered a new contract. He's unlikely to accept as he wants first team football.
The player himself agreed even back then with the German, saying: "I haven't played much. I've been on the bench a lot and I don't like that.
"I've played five times for the first team and I've scored my first goal at Anfield which is special. It's been good but I need to play more."
One player who was not offered a new deal at Anfield was Ivorian centre back Kolo Toure with the 35-year-old released by Liverpool on Friday, although he has attracted interest from AS Monaco and Rangers in recent weeks.
