Super Eagles legend Jay-Jay Okocha is facing jail after a warrant for his arrest was issued over reported tax evasion, according to reports in Nigeria
The 73-cap former Nigeria international was summoned after repeatedly failing to show up at court for not paying his taxes.
Okocha was first asked to go to court in October 2017 with the judge finally issuing a warrant for his arrest last month after numerous no-shows.
Despite being a hero in his home country for his footballing feats, Okocha certainly wasn’t granted any special treatment.
The ex-Bolton star has been charged with three counts of “failure to furnish his return of income” say reports in Nigeria.
Despite the arrest warrant being issued on January 29 – with a court date of February 19 set – it’s claimed Okocha has still not been brought in
The Nigerian was tipped for a return to his old club as coach last summer, but the move failed to materialise.
During his career, Okocha also played for Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce and Hull, amongst others
